Jason is currently CEO and General Counsel of Otello Corporation ASA which is headquartered in Oslo, Norway and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Otello Corporation ASA was previously called Opera Software ASA, where Jason was General Counsel since 2009 and Deputy General Counsel from 2007-2009.

In 2016 a consortium made a public offer to purchase 100% of the shares of Opera Software ASA and take the company off of the stock exchange. When the consortium did not receive the necessary regulatory approvals, the parties entered into an agreement where the consortium purchased certain parts of the business. The remaining company was Otello Corporation ASA, which consisted of, among other entities, a mobile advertising business headquartered in the United States, a digital services company based in Brazil, and a VPN company in Canada.

Jason’s career in Otello/Opera has involved being the company secretary; working closely with the CEO and management team on strategic matters; managing negotiations of license, OEM, supplier, services agreements, etc.; and managing external counsel in large, international M&A transactions and divestitures.

Jason also currently provides general counsel services to Airthings ASA, Promon AS and Zivid AS. Prior to Otello/Opera, Jason worked for almost five years at the law firm Wikborg Rein in the TMT department, specializing in Norwegian and European competition law, telecommunication law, contract law, and other regulatory issues within the IT, telecom and media sectors.
